Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains the correspondence of  major figures in the writing, editing, publication, and dissemination of L’Adunata. In addition, subjects also include matters of the leadership and development of the Italian-American Anarchist movement.

Collection Historical Note

L’Adunata dei Refrattari (L’Adunata) was founded in New York as a newspaper and public forum for the Italian-American Anarchist community in New York and Boston, as well as nationwide and internationally. Over its 49 year run, L’Adunata was the authoritative source of information for Italian Anarchists,featuring news-stories and announcements relating to the activities of anarchist social and political groups, fund raisers, and relevant news items, particularly those stories not covered by the mainstream press. L’Adunata was instrumental in keeping the Italian Anarchist movement informed of matters both trivial and vital.
